Spring 2008
Darklight Design became involved in this scheme again by recommendation of a local Architect CSK based in Eton, Berkshire.
Peter & Allison had a stunning town house in the heart of Windsor that they were refurbishing and extending. The brief was to create a simple timeless design to suit their Scandanavian style. In the main rooms for general light and wall washing we used the Isis 50 Recessed Adjustable Down Light with the lamp set back into the fitting for minimal glare, we have used the frosted softening lenses on these fitting to help diffuse the light.
In the kitchen we wanted to create a feature over the dining table without imposing itself too much in the room. We achieved this by using the Morosini Egg Pendant made from bone china, this emits a beautiful soft light into the dining room. Downstairs in the stunning glazed basement room, we have used the Storm wall up and down light on the exposed brick work which looks visually stunning from the garden view. This combined with the Silenia Low Level Light at the botton of the stairs and stunning floor and table lamps by designer Jasper Morrison Glo - Ball from flos really give this area style and character.
For us lighting was one of the most challenging elements of the build to get right given you have to make the decisions way before you really know what's going to work where. We involved Chris from the beginning and he did a great job on both the design and delivery of the lights themselves. He gave us a real sense of confidence of what we needed day-to-day, combined with flair and creativity in the right places to make the project special. He's always on the end of a phone and very responsive. We wouldn't tackle a lighting project without him.
